Horse Drawing
From books to web pages. I won't start with a 'how to do it' page, but with one of my favourite pictures, Die Kleinen Gelben Pferde (The Small Yellow Horses), by Franz Marc. About 6 years ago I was looking to buy myself a christmas present with some money I had been given for the purpose. Browsing through Ebay Germany I came across a Large Piece of Canvas which a student studying Theatrical Art, or something similar had done for an Exam. It was similar, although not an exact copy of Franz Marks Die Grossen Blauen Pferde (The Large Blue Horses). The only problem is it covers a complete wall!!! Rambles around Pablo Picasso

Category: , , , , , By Kays Rambles

Today, I'm looking for the best Picasso pages, not sure why, the subject just popped into my head. So here goes... My first link is of course to the Wikipedia entry, which gives a potted biography, details of his personal life and political views, as well as information about the art he created. This gave me a link to the 'official' Picasso website, this has a really weird flash interface. There appears to be a lot of material but it takes a little lateral thinking to work out how the interface works! The menu in the middle that looks to be in the way, can be dragged out of the way with the mouse. A video of Picasso in Antibes is included, (at least that was the video on the link when I visited!!!).

Art works by Picasso include: Fruit Dish, Bottle and Violin, 1914 and Child with a Dove, 1901 both at the National Gallery in London. *** At the Guggenheim Museum, New York you should find... Le Moulin de la Galette, 1900 Woman Ironing, 1904 Fernande with a Black Mantilla, 1905-1906 Carafe, Jug and Fruit Bowl, Summer 1909 which I think I'll add to my list of favourite paintings. Accordionist, Summer 1911 Landscape at Céret, Summer 1911 The Poet, August 1911 Pipe, Glass, Bottle of Vieux Marc, Spring 1914 Mandolin and Guitar, 1924 The Studio, 1928 Woman with Yellow Hair, 1931 which I quite like, somehow it reminds me of the horses painted by Franz Marc On the Beach, February 12, 1937 Two Doves with Wings Spread, March 16-19, 1960 *** The Art Institute of Chicago has over 300 Picasso art works on their website, including many drawings. The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, have over 130 Picasso art works on their website, which can be studied in detail using an enlarger, see this example The Donkey note: the image can be dragged around the page using the mouse. *** The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden website has at least 35 Picasso images, which can be enlarged, including quite a number of sculptures. Example note: click picture for the full size version. *** The Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg, has around 28 Picassos on its website, mostly paintings. Example Three women 1908 *** If you are feeling really flushed, why not bid on a Picasso at an upcoming auction, Sothebys, Christies and Bonhams hold regular art sales. If like me, you can't afford the originals, then why not splash out for a catalogue? Recently I bought some mixed lots totalling around 200 auction catalogues on Ebay UK, it was quite an eye opener. Many were richly illustrated with works that will have ended up in private collections, as well as galleries. If you are in the states, look at auction catalogs on Ebay USA Books on Picasso If you are interested in creating your own original art work, checkout these Drawing and Painting Books Thank you for visiting, Kay
