Rambles around Drawing Horses
Today, I'm looking at resources for the practicing or aspiring equine artist.
I'll be investigating both webpages and books.
First off the block we have the copy approach from Lee Ames, the Draw 50 Series of books includes Draw 50 Horses, the Step-By-Step Way to Draw Broncos, Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Dancers, Prancers, and Many More...
Search Inside this book... UK USA Canada note: when I created the link the 'free' content in the USA was different from the UK and Canada so look at both! The USA excerpt shows you how to draw a horses head from three different angles.
From books to web pages. I won't start with a 'how to do it' page, but with one of my favourite pictures, Die Kleinen Gelben Pferde (The Small Yellow Horses), by Franz Marc.
About 6 years ago I was looking to buy myself a Christmas present with some money I had been given for the purpose. Browsing through Ebay Germany I came across a Large Piece of Canvas which a student studying Theatrical Art, or something similar had done for an Exam. It was similar, although not an exact copy of Franz Marks Die Grossen Blauen Pferde (The Large Blue Horses). The only problem is it covers a complete wall!!!
